About Annette

Labyrinths are found in many cultural and spiritual traditions and are being rediscovered and used worldwide. Based on the circle and spiral, the labyrinth is an ancient and powerful symbol of wholeness and a tool for transformation. It offers a rich personal experience and a shared journey to bring people together on common ground.

This labyrinth was co-created in less than five minutes using natural materials and the end of a broom from a hotel cleaning cart. Annette drew this labyrinth early one morning before she facilitated a labyrinth workshop for the Alabama Chaplain's Association in Gulf Shores, AL. She made it primarily for herself as a centering and grounding tool. The photos were taken spontaneously by her daughter, Missy.

By nature, this form of "earth art" is ephemeral - blown away with breezes, scuffed out by feet, or washed away by water. As a mandala, the spiraling image of the labyrinth is quite compelling and draws people to it. Many people walked this labyrinth without any instruction and by mid-morning it was seemingly "gone". However, what remained was the lovely, focused intention of the creator and the experience of the users.

This photo has become very popular and has appeared in many
books and magazines. Someone said that the beauty of this photo captures Annette doing what she loves, in a place that she loves, taken by a person with love.
